Cooperation and Projects

International work at Criminal Intelligence Service Austria involves cross-border projects to fight crime, in a bid to set strategic priorities and support security-led interests of Austria. The Internal Security Fund (ISF) and the Twinning projects of the European Union further and promote international cooperation between EU member states and third countries as well as support internal security measures. Moreover, the EU research and innovation programme HORIZON 2020 promotes research projects at European level in which experts of Criminal Intelligence Service Austria are involved, too.

Due to its geographic position and geopolitical key role in the region, Austria plays a special role, in particular when it comes to projects fighting crime along the Balkan route. A multilateral knowledge transfer between different authorities is achieved by international project cooperation to effectively fight today’s multi-faceted crime.
