Europol
Europol is a police authority of the EU seated in The Hague. It coordinates the work of national police authorities in Europe in the field of cross-border organised crime and promotes the information exchange between national police authorities.
Its scope of work includes counter-terrorism, the fight against and the prevention of illegal trafficking in weapons and drugs, and the fight against online child sexual abuse and money laundering.
On 1 January 2010, Europol became an EU Agency, like OLAF, CEPOL and Eurojust. Its official working languages are the same as the official EU languages. Attachés establish the connection to national law enforcement authorities. They are so-called Europol Liasion Officers. The Austrian Europol National Unit is part of Criminal Intelligence Service Austria.
