INTERPOL
INTERPOL is the abbreviation for International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO). Founded in Vienna in 1923, it has evolved into a global criminal police organisation with currently 196 member countries. Its seat is in Lyon, France. INTERPOL Lyon is an information and communication platform for national police authorities. The worldwide access to important information on persons, stolen and lost documents, vehicles and works of art contributes to preventing and solving crimes. The organisation’s objective is to increase the efficiency of the fight against international crime and terrorism. Research, education and training guarantee a consistent quality standard around the world. For special international events such as major sporting events, INTERPOL sends experts to member countries but also after natural disasters or terrorist attacks.
